What is Urgent Care?

Urgent Care is an independent branch of medicine recognised by the Medical Council of New Zealand. CUCP defines Urgent Care as episodic no-appointments primary care services that are covered by CUCP's training programme, and delivered from a CUCP-approved Urgent Care facility MORE

AGM - 2012
The 2012 AGM will be held at GPK, upstairs room, on Friday March 16th at 7pm.

MCNZ Elections 2012
Doctors may vote for four doctors to be recommended as the Ministry of Health's nominations to the Medical Council.
Voting closes on March 23rd 2012 - more details here.

Change to Fellowship criteria - more recognition of NZ ED hours
Up to 1,000 NZ ED hours worked while in the EM or RHM training programme can now be counted towards fellowship - details here.

Dr Ralph Saxe RIP
January 30th 2012
Dr Ralph Saxe died in a light plane crash on January 23rd.
Ralph, besides being a distinguished long-standing Fellow of the College of Urgent Care Physicians  and FRNZCGP, was also a founder of Radius, one of the earliest operators of an Urgent Care clinic in Palmerston North, and involved in the original formation of the ACC/CUCP working group that worked to develop the Urgent Care Clinic standard in 1998.
His is a sad loss to the Urgent Care community.

Name change to College of Urgent Care Physicians - approved

AMPA has changed its name to College of Urgent Care Physicians, and is in the process of changing the logo, website and stationery. MORE

New house surgeon training
The MCNZ is proposing new house surgeon training, which would mean compulsory community runs (possibly in Urgent Care) and standardised house surgeon training. MORE
